10 Questions with DJ Rowland


This weekend, we have with us on the 10 questions feature segment a prominent DJ who’s been in the game for years and is currently a Radio presenter with 2 radio stations also the current P.R.O to the Deejay Association of Nigeria (DJAN)

1.     How did it all begin?
It all started when I was a young man in secondary school back then going to Obalende,  in a studio called Q S S then to record tapes
2.     Where did the name come from? 
DJ Roland came from my real names - Roland James
3.     What gave you the initial push (i.e, your motivation) to DJ?
Like I said earlier seeing the likes of DJ Abass, DJ Jimmy Jatt do their thing was a great motivation for me then
4.     Which other countries have you played? 
Countries I have played are South Africa, Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic, a European Tour is almost concluded
5.     What was the first event you ever played at/put on?
 At a Show that where I had to be flown to University of Abuja in 1995
6.     What's the best event you've played at/put on?
A Valantine show in 1997 playing alongside  Kwam 1 was my major big show then and I performed with great recommendation from Kwam 1
7.     What distinguishes you from other DJs?
Was a graduate before I became a DJ in the 90’s  when all DJ’s were looked at as school dropouts and people without focus. In otherwords, the first DJ at the time with a degree.
8.     What's your favourite tune of all time?
Whispers and the beat goes on
9.     3 favorite gadgets?
Technic MK2 Turntables, Pioneer Cd Mixer, and a Rane Mixer – the DJ’s Tools.
10.                         When all the partying is over how do you like to chill out? 
Going to a private  Beach to relax
