Skyfall becomes the most successful British film ever

In 40 days, the 23rd Bond film has taken more than Avatar did in 11 months

Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson said: “We’re overwhelmed with gratitude to the cinema-going audiences in the UK who have made 'Skyfall' the highest grossing film of all time.

“We are very proud of this film and thank everybody, especially Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes, who have contributed to its success.”

So far, the film has made $248,219,280 (£154,288,388) in the US, and a huge $871,219,280 (£541466,267) worldwide, according to movie stats site Box Office Mojo, making it the highest grossing Bond film of all time.
