Iyanya says he appreciates Yvonne Nelson and Tonto Dikeh but he needs a God fearing girl

Source: Talkof Naija
Nigerian singer Iyanya, who has been in the news lately over a not-too-clear triangular relationship blues/drama, involving him and Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson and Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh, has shot down suggestions of a bad blood among all three characters.

The “Kukere” and “Ur Waist” singer has categorically denied reports that point to a not-too-pleasant relationship, adding that apart from the fact that he is “cool” with Yvonne and Tonto, he also respects both ladies, and that he “appreciate their hard work”.

“I’m cool with Yvonne. Apart from the fact that I mentioned her name in my song, she is a wonderful person,” he said in an interview with the Nigerian website Bella Naija.

“She is one of the nicest, coolest people that I know. The same with Tonto. They are two people I respect a lot. I appreciate their hard work and they are doing very well in their field.

“Yvonne is my hommie, we are cool people even till now as we speak. Tonto is my padi, we are cool. The media and people out there are just having fun”.

Talking more about relationships, Iyanya says: “it’s hard to find somebody that would be with you and actually take the pain, stand the rain. I feel like anyone I’ve tried to have a relationship with always says “no, I can’t”.

On the choice of woman he would ordinarily date, Iyanya says: “I like classy women. When I say classy, I don’t mean you must have money, but at least know your self-worth and carry yourself well. I want a God fearing woman too because at the end of the day women have the deepest secrets. Women are fragile even when they act like they are bosses so if you mess up, there is a possibility that a woman will bring you down”.

The top-selling Nigerian act has also ruled out dating a celebrity, insisting that “the thing about dating celebs is that it would most likely not last”.

“I can date anybody but the thing about dating celebs is that it would most likely not last. The only way it may last is if they are not successful. But if they are both successful, when people see them together, they would jump on it. That alone has an effect on the relationship because they won’t be free”.

Iyanya’s clarification on the issue should offer some relief to both Yvonne and Tonto, who have had to respond to rumours about their relationship with the singer, over the past few weeks.

Iyanya is due in Accra this week for the Ghana Movie Awards, and Sarkodie Live In Concert, all happening on December 25.

Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday called for an “end to the bloodshed”

Source: Talk of Naija
Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday called for an “end to the bloodshed” in conflict-wracked Syria in a traditional Christmas message that touched on several other of the world’s conflict zones.
“There is hope in the world … even at the most difficult times and in the most difficult situations,” he said, praying that “peace spring up for the people of Syria, deeply wounded and divided by a conflict which does not spare even the defenceless and reaps innocent victims.”
Speaking from the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica in a message watched by millions around the world, he called “for an end to the bloodshed, easier access for the relief of refugees and the displaced, and dialogue in the pursuit of a political solution to the conflict.”
A capacity crowd of 40,000 pilgrims filled the vast St Peter’s Square to hear the 85-year-old pope, resplendent in red vestments, deliver the message under partly cloudy skies.
His wide-ranging “Urbi et Orbi” (To the City and the World) message also pointed to hotspots across Africa and urged religious freedom in China, and as usual called for peace in the Middle East.
He notably lamented “savage acts of terrorism” that frequently target Christian churches in Nigeria.
Also Tuesday, South African former president Nelson Mandela shared Christmas greetings with visitors to his hospital bedside, including his wife Graca Machel, other family members and President Jacob Zuma.
“We found him in good spirits,” Zuma said. “He was happy to have visitors on this special day and is looking much better.”
The 94-year-old anti-apartheid icon was admitted on December 8 to a Pretoria hospital where has been treated for a recurrent lung infection and underwent surgery to remove gallstones.
Another prominent former world leader was confined to a hospital bed for Christmas this year: Margaret Thatcher of Britain.
The 87-year-old former prime minister was admitted to hospital on Thursday for a minor operation to remove a growth in her bladder.
Meanwhile in Australia, unseasonal cool weather kept the usual Christmas revellers from thronging to Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach, while wildfires raged in other parts of the country as the summer heat flared.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard thanked emergency crews and others who had to work on the holiday, paying particular tribute to soldiers serving in Afghanistan.
“To our troops abroad, we honour and admire you, and I hope your families know how grateful we are to you this time of year,” Gillard said in her annual Christmas message.
Seven Australian troops died in the conflict in 2012; 39 have perished there over the past decade.
In Indonesia, more than 200 Muslims threw rotten eggs at Christians wanting to hold a Christmas mass outside Jakarta, police said.
Some 100 Christian worshippers intended to hold a mass near the spot where they hope to build a church, in a project that was barred by district government and community members in 2009.
Since then, worshippers from the Filadelfia Batak Christian Protestant Church have held Sunday services under scorching sun outside the property.
On Tuesday, however, local community members blocked the road near the land, local police told AFP.
Meanwhile in the United States, the organisation responsible for monitoring North American airspace helped with the important task of helping children track Santa Claus’s progress as he completed his whirlwind journey around the globe.
The Santa tracker set up by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), a US-Canada joint operation, said that Father Christmas and his overworked reindeer were resting at the North Pole, having delivered more than seven billion gifts during his annual journey.
The website, www.noradsanta.org, is available in eight languages and allows children to find Santa’s location and upcoming stops on his trip.
Also overnight, the pope sent out two tweets, one asking his some two million “followers”: “What are the family Christmas traditions that you still remember from your childhood?”
In the other, the German pontiff said that nativity scenes bring back fond memories from his childhood in Bavaria.
The pope has sent out 14 tweets since opening his Twitter account @pontifex in eight languages early this month.

Balotelli’s Brother Arrested For Assaulting Two Policemen

Enoch Barwuah, 20, who had trials with Stoke City and Sunderland before signing for Salford City last month, was held after a brawl at a bar and kept in custody until his appearance before a judge.
The court heard how he had been attacked as he drank in a bar in Brescia with his sister Abigail by a man who ripped his shirt but Barwuah then turned on police who had been called by the owner.
Officers said they found him in the street shirtless and barefooted and when they approached they were kicked and punched, while their squad car was also damaged in the incident.
The court bailed Barwuah to his home address in Brescia until January 3, when he will have a fast track trial accused of a assault and resisting arrest. At his hearing he apologised and said his reactions had been ‘unjustified’ but he had become concerned after his sister ‘felt ill’ during the attack.
Barwuah is Balotelli’s younger brother and apart from Abigail he also has a sister Angel – they remained with his natural parents while he was adopted as a baby by a wealthy Italian couple.

US To Send Soldiers To Tackle Boko-Haram

A U.S. Army brigade will begin sending small teams into as many as 35 African nations early next year, part of an intensifying Pentagon effort to train countries to battle extremists and give the U.S. a ready and trained force to dispatch to Africa if crises requiring the U.S. military emerge.

The teams will be limited to training and equipping efforts, and will not be permitted to conduct military operations without specific, additional approvals from the secretary of defense.
The sharper focus on Africa by the U.S. comes against a backdrop of widespread insurgent violence across North Africa, and as the African Union and other nations discuss military intervention in northern Mali.

The terror threat from al-Qaida linked groups in Africa has been growing steadily, particularly with the rise of the extremist Islamist sect Boko Haram in Nigeria. Officials also believe that the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, which killed the ambassador and three other Americans, may have been carried out by those who had ties to al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb.
Gen. Carter Ham, the top U.S. commander in Africa, noted that the brigade has a small drone capability that could be useful in Africa. But he also acknowledged that he would need special permission to tap it for that kind of mission.

"If they want them for (military) operations, the brigade is our first sourcing solution because they're prepared," said Gen. David Rodriguez, the head of U.S. Army Forces Command. "But that has to go back to the secretary of defense to get an execute order."
