Brangelina is over: Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt split

Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt after two years of marriage, Us Weekly can confirm.

An insider tells Us Weekly that Brad Pitt was blindsided by Angelina Jolie's divorce filing. "Brad only found out about the divorce decision yesterday," the source says.

As for how his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston is reacting to the news of the split? A source claims to Us the Friends alum told a pal, "That's karma for you."

"Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage," Jolie's rep said in a statement to Us Tuesday, September 20. "This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time."

The Academy Award–winning actress, 41, filed divorce documents Monday, September 19, citing irreconcilable differences. Jolie Pitt s seeking physical custody of the couple's six children — Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8 — and requested that the Fight Club actor, 52, only get joint legal custody. She is not asking for spousal support.

Us Weekly was the first to report in June that there was tension between the couple over whether to sell their Château Miraval estate in Correns, France. A source told Us at the time that Pitt wanted to keep the property, but Jolie Pitt wanted to sell it as she was "ramping up her efforts in the political world."

Last month, Us Weekly exclusively reported that the pair celebrated their second wedding anniversary with a low-key date night at a five-star resort. "It was just the two of them. They had dinner and spent the night, and that was it," a source told Us at the time, adding, "They want to keep the love alive."

On Tuesday, an insider exclusively told Us that Jolie decided to part ways with Pitt "one week ago."

"The final divorce decision was only made one week ago,” the insider tells Us of the UN ambassador's resolve to file for divorce — a decision that caused the internet to light up with varying social media reactions. “An incident took place and prompted [Angelina] to act and file.”

Recently released documents reveal some expensive possessions that Jolie is hoping to keep. Listed under "separate property," she is asking the eternal heartthrob for "miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects." The brunette beauty is also requesting "earnings and accumulations" that she made "from and after the date of separation."

The document goes on to ask for "additional separate property assets," although it adds "the exact nature and extent of which are not presently known."

The former couple secretly married in August 2014 at their estate in France. During the private ceremony, Jolie Pitt wore a dress designed with their children's drawings on it. Maddox and Pax walked the actress down the aisle, Zahara and Vivienne threw petals from the family's garden and Shiloh and Knox were the ring bearers, a spokesperson told Us at the time. A source told Us on Tuesday that Pitt and Jolie clashed over parenting styles for their six children. “They came so close to this before,” the insider told Us, adding that they butted heads over how to raise their kids, among other issues. "They fought a lot over the years and disagreed about many things.”

Jolie's famous dad actor, Jon Voight, was kept in the dark about his daughter's decision to call it quits with Pitt. "I have no idea [what happened], but I’ll find out," the Ray Donovan star, 77, told Us exclusively hours after the shocking news broke. ""I’ll be seeing Angie and the children pretty soon."

Jolie Pitt and Pitt started dating in 2004 — while he was still married to Jennifer Aniston — while costarring in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. This was Jolie Pitt's third marriage. She previously tied the knot with Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.
