Four trade unions in the aviation industry on Tuesday said they shelved
their proposed strike after they met with the Minister of Labour and
Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu.
They are Air Transport Services
Senior Staff Association (ATSSSAN) and National Union of Air Transport
Employees (NAUTE), the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Civil
Service Technical, Recreation Services Employees (AUPCTRE) and National
Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) had threatened to
down tools over the payment of salary arrears, hazard allowance and condition
of service, among others
The decision to shelve the strike is
contained in a signed by all the representatives of the unions, ministries of
labour, aviation and the National Salaries and Wages Commission.
They said the action was to
facilitate an amicable resolution of their grievances.
