According to Aviators Magazine:
The Minister of Aviation, Mrs Stella Oduah, has directed Dana Air to commence flight operations.
This is coming 26 days after the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr Harold Demuren re-issued Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) to the airline on December 5, 2012.
The NCAA boss however warned the embattled airline to show evidence of payment of $70,000 balance to families of the crash victims of June 3, 2012, as a condition to commencement of flight operations.
The minister was said to have signed a letter addressed to the NCAA, boss on December 31, 2012 with reference number FMA/ATMD/502/S.835/11/56 and title Re: Release of Dana Airlines to return to flight operations,”
A source added that just like NCAA, the ministry also re-echoed the same proviso earlier given by the regulatory body.
The only difference in the proviso is that the minister asked the airline to complete payment of all insurance obligations and claims within two months to the dependents of the victims of the crash.
She also ordered the airline to abide by the safety regulations of NCAA and strict surveillance by the NCAA, just as the minister acknowledged that the NCAA had carried out recertification on the airline.
